For the last few years the Junior School children have enjoyed the special Choral Poetry Assembly.
Learning poetry by heart and the enjoyment of performance poetry forms an important part of English on the British curriculum. By speaking in unison children have to work collaboratively and by performing they gain an increased enjoyment and engagement in poetry. Performance of poems is one of the most traditional forms of literature, dating back to the times of the Ancient Greeks.
This year we are to have three assemblies and the first was a definitely a great success. The children in one class from every year group in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 performed wonderfully. Congratulations to the children and teachers of 1D, 2D, 3L, 4P, 5B and 6F. We are really looking forward to the poems by the other classes next term.
The Junior School will have fun this week whilst learning to become better bucket fillers!
