It is always an honour to commemorate Mr Arthur Powell with our annual Founder's Debate, and this year's event this month collected together, once again, some of the brightest minds in Runnymede. The speeches were as impressive as ever, showcasing the sharp reasoning skills and powerful rhetoric that the students have spent years honing, both inside and outside of The Debate Society.
This year's motion, 'This House Believes Democracy Is Doomed', placed democracy in the spotlight, and so was a particularly apt way to remember Mr Arthur Powell, who prized open democratic discourse and governance so highly.
