A new outdoor area has been created over summer for our Foundation Stage children, which will be used as a space to explore and facilitate a different style of learning. The space will allow teachers to incorporate elements of nature and space into Early Year’s learning. A simple counting activity, for example, can be transformed by including stones, leaves or flowers, and such a space opens up a world of opportunities for art projects and science experiments! The benefits to young children of interacting with nature are many. It is both calming and stimulates all five senses, promoting the development of motor skills. Runnymede College is certainly very fortunate to have this incredible space.
