Both our Junior and Senior School pupils participated in Anti-Bullying Week last week, just as they do every year. Pupils and teachers wore their Odd Socks to show that at Runnymede, we celebrate differences and that we are indeed "United Against Bullying", the theme from the UK's Anti-Bullying Alliance this year.
Our Year 1 to 6 pupils designed their own "Upstander" Super Hero characters and there was a prize for the best in every class. Here is one of our prize winners, Adriana.
All the children discussed and understood the need to stand up to bullies and the ways to do this. The Junior School Students' Council had great fun producing a cartoon to show how to be an Upstander and this was shared with the rest of the school.
Our Senior School pupils also got involved with Odd Socks Day and their second House Friendship Day in which they wore a coloured jumper to school depending on which House they are in to express their House Spirit. Prefects visited Form rooms to discuss anti-bullying and to share a video they had created on the topic.
As part of Odd Socks and House Friendship Day, pupils donated money for our chosen charity, Soñar Despierto. It was another very successful week of discussion, thought and reflection around bullying for Runnymede pupils.
