After all the uncertainty of recent months, we were delighted to get back to some real DofE activities a few weekends ago. The Duke of Edinburgh International Award focuses on self improvement and development. Pupils take part in physical activities, volunteering and skill-developing activities, and also plan and undertake their own expeditions. These activities help young people develop essential skills for life and work.
The DofE Award for this year kicked off with the long-delayed Silver Practice Expedition to Navacerrada, where pupils participated in hiking activities in adverse weather, camped, cooked and navigated together in small, socially-distanced groups. It was a fantastic weekend away and a great opportunity to disconnect from technology and get back to nature. This expedition taught pupils about team building, perseverance, physical and mental stamina.
