From Runnymede to Four Seasons Manager: Old Runnymedian Monica Eisen inspires our VI Formers

Following the first presentation by Avinash, our VI Form pupils, their parents and other Old Runnymedians had the opportunity to hear from Monica Eisen, Old Runnymedian and Manager at the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

Monica graduated from Runnymede in 2005 before going on to study a Swiss Hotel Management Diploma at Les Roches Marbella. She started her first job as an intern at the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz in Lisbon. Over the past twelve years she has risen thorough the ranks at this prestigious chain and completed a Master Certificate in Hospitality Management at eCornell before ultimately being promoted to her current role as Hotel Manager of the new Four Seasons in Madrid.

During her inspiring and informative presentation, Monica explained what an important part of her life her time at Runnymede was and that it was at Runnymede where she learnt the social skills she needed to succeed in the field of Hospitality.

Pupils learnt more about the hotel world and exactly what the hospitality industry is as Monica described a hotel as being a complex microcosmic world of its own, which involves many different people wearing different hats. She explained that there are more opportunities in a hotel than people might think, with employment possibilities existing for everyone, from engineers to marketers and reception staff.

Our pupils (and staff!) asked some fantastic questions about Monica’s experience, how to make a good impression during an internship and about juggling a management role with her new role as a mother.

One of our student editors at The Runnymede Times, Runnymede's pupil-run newspaper, had the opportunity to interview Monica and get to know her on a more personal level. Monica has also been featured in a recent article in Expansión.

It was a real pleasure to hear from Monica and we are very grateful to have been able to offer our pupils the opportunity to learn from her.
