On Monday, pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 watched and listened with amazement to the drummers and dancers from Wadaiko Matsurine group of Japanese traditional music. Despite the stress of Madrid traffic, they managed to put on a stunning display of movement and sound, from the swirling costumes of twenty dancers to the immense power that vibrated from enormous drums.
The sound at times was so loud, it was as if the building was vibrating. The energy levels of the performers were amazingly high as groups of drummers took it in turns to beat increasingly complex rhythms that at times seemed to knock the breath from the spectators.
There wasn't even time to applaud as one performance followed another. Many thanks have to be given to Miss Balashova for organising one of the most stunning shows given at Runnymede!
