On the 20th June Runnymede College celebrated its first ever virtual Prize Giving, as pupils and parents watched the streamed ceremony from their homes. With students wearing their school uniforms and families watching on a variety of devices, everyone created a sense of togetherness which is a fundamental part of the Runnymede community.
The Headmaster began the event with a moving and hope-filled speech, and he was followed by the guests of honour, Mlle Isabelle Legros and Mr Nigel Bennet. These two ‘legends of Runnymede College’, in the Headmaster’s words, are retiring at the end of the academic year, and they both delivered touchingly heartfelt speeches. The academic prize-winners were announced, and the the Deputy Head for Co-curriculur, Mr Crumpton, paid tribute to the sporting and extra-curricular achievements of the past year.
Finally, we were treated to a recording of a beautiful song performed by the school’s choir and musicians. It was a genuinely lovely ceremony, and demonstrated the school’s resilience and resolve as we move towards a well-deserved summer holiday.
