Year 12 English Trip to Stratford-upon-Avon

The Year 12 English Literature students were given the opportunity to get to know a little more about Shakespeare in his place of birth this weekend. The action-packed weekend started with a workshop on the Duchess of Malfi by the Royal Shakespeare Company and a powerful production of this tragic play, written by the English dramatist John Webster.

They were also treated to a visit to Shakespeare’s birthplace, where they attended a seminar on Othello, which they will be studying next year.

A visit to the Holy Trinity church, Shakespeare’s birthplace, and a production of Macbeth were also squeezed in, along with a boat ride along the River Avon and a trip to Waterstones to buy books.

All in all, it was a fun and educational weekend which gave the pupils the chance to immerse themselves in the world and work of the great English playwright.
