KS2 Inter House Music Competition

Just before half term the Junior School enjoyed its' first ever Inter House Music Competition. Representatives from each house had been preparing since the beginning of term with the help of their music teachers. We were also entertained by numbers from the Junior School Band.

There were individual instrumental and solo singing performances with Mia playing ‘Up Town Funk’ on drums, Gabriela giving a moving rendition of ‘Shallow’ from ‘A Star is Born’. Sebastian, Claudia and Jaime all performed well ‘Sweet Child of Mine’, ‘Theme and Variations’ and the theme from ‘Harry Potter’ respectively on electric guitar, violin and piano. The House choirs sang in unison:- ‘Over the Rainbow’ from Austen, ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ was Keynes’ choice, Locke performed ‘Hushabye Mountain’ and Newton's rendition of ‘When I Grow Up’ was well received.

The children enjoyed the presence of Mr and Mrs Powell, the official judges of the competition, who were impressed by the standard demonstrated by all the competitors. It was a hard decision with so much talent to choose from but in the end it was Newton who gained the most points overall and were awarded the trophy.
