Celebrating Science Week

Last week was Madrid Science Week and to celebrate the Science Department sent some of most enthusiastic students to Science related activities organised by CIEMAT (Spanish Research Council for Energy and Technology).

On November 8th four of our Year 12 physicists attended a Science Dating activity where they met researchers from a variety of areas ranging from Biotechnology to Astrophysics. Carlos even had his DNA extracted on site!

On Wednesday 13th November two of our physicists also attended a Particle Physics Masterclass, a topic they have just finished learning. They had a lecture on the topic, tracked particles in a cloud chamber, manipulated real CERN data and had a videoconference with a Spanish team at CERN.

Students were thrilled with the experience and we hope to do it again next year!!
