On Saturday 23rd May, Runnymede held the annual Speech Day and Prize Giving for Senior School, which brought together students, teachers and parents to celebrate our students' achievements, enthusiasm and contribution to the school. We also took the opportunity to remember the late Julia Powell, who not only founded the school with her husband, Arthur Powell, but also played an instrumental role in its existence throughout her entire life.
The whole school joined in honouring her with a minute's silence and her daughter, Paloma Vora, was invited to speak, giving an inspirational speech encouraging the students to embrace equality and creativity, and to be fearless when facing their bright futures.
It was also a pleasure to host Wendy Jotcham, who was a teacher at Runnymede herself and presented a new languages prize to honour her husband, Nicholas Jotcham, who was a distinguished linguist.
We would like to congratulate all who were recognised for their excellence, and all those who may not have won a prize but who are bright and and enthusiastic and a credit to their school.
