Last week the whole Junior School from Pre-Nursery to Year 6 celebrated World Book Day to encourage children to enjoy reading. The children, and most of the teachers, dressed up as characters from stories or books in fantastic costumes.
Throughout the day there were times to D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) where the children from Year 1 to Year 6 stopped what they were doing and took some time to enjoy the book that they brought in from home.
Throughout the week there were special assemblies to promote reading; Years 1 to 6 enjoyed another choral poetry performance and the children in Years 4 to 6 competed in the annual Junior School Spelling Bee. KS2 (Years 3 to 6) were able to participate in a writing competition. A successful week all-round!
