Sixth Form Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

We have a dedicated Pastoral Team that offers support and guidance through registration, PSHEE sessions, assemblies, individual meetings, and mentoring sessions.

Form groups are vertical, with a mixture of Year 12 and Year 13 pupils in each group. This structure helps to facilitate relationships and create a strong sense of community. Year 12 pupils benefit from learning about the university application process and what to expect in Sixth Form from Year 13 pupils. Meanwhile, Year 13 pupils enhance their communication skills by offering support and guidance to their younger peers.

Sixth Formers have daily contact with their form tutors, who get to know them well. Tutors monitor their tutees’ wellbeing and also help develop their communication and research skills through form-time presentations and discussions. Tutors work closely with the Head of Sixth Form and other members of the Pastoral Team to ensure all pupils feel safe, happy, and excited about their learning and their future.

‘Tea with the Headmaster’ is a unique and enjoyable opportunity where, each week, a group of Sixth Form pupils is invited to meet with the Headmaster to discuss school life and future plans.

The Sixth Form Summit is another highlight, offering pupils the chance to work outdoors in their form groups to complete a series of academic and creative challenges. This initiative not only promotes teamwork but also provides a valuable opportunity for pupils to bond, develop personal skills, and build lasting relationships.
