Life beyond the classroom
Life Beyonds the Classroom
At Runnymede College Pre-Prep, learning goes far beyond the classroom walls. We believe that a rich and balanced education includes meaningful experiences in a variety of environments. Whether it’s exploring nature in our Forest School, developing physical skills and teamwork in PE, or engaging in hands-on discovery through outdoor learning, our children thrive through active, play-based exploration. School trips and a wide range of extracurricular activities further broaden their horizons, helping to spark curiosity, build confidence, and nurture a lifelong love of learning.
Physical Education
From Pre-Nursery, children enjoy PE lesson delivered by our high-skilled specialist staff. Children develop a range of gross motor skills through circuits and are introduced wide range of team and individual sports. Throughout the year, special events introduce our children to competitive sports in an age-appropriate way, with children in Years 1, 2 and 3 competing for house points in our annual Spartan Run and Sports Day.
Forest School
In EYFS, children have weekly sessions in our Forest School, offering regular opportunities to explore, play, and learn in a natural woodland setting. Through hands-on activities like den building, nature crafts, and wildlife observation, pupils develop confidence, resilience, and a deep connection with the natural world. This is extended beyond the school grounds through trips to a local woodland in Nursery and Reception

Trips
School trips enrich the curriculum by bringing learning to life through exciting real-world experiences. Each class goes on at least one trip every term, linked to their curriculum topic and focused on deepening that term’s learning. From visiting museums, farms, and the zoo to enjoying a memorable residential adventure in Year 3, these outings inspire curiosity, deepen understanding, and create lasting memories.
Performing Arts
At Runnymede College, we believe that performance experiences are crucial in preparing children to become confident communicators. Through annual shows, special assemblies and events, all children are given the opportunity to show off their English public speaking skills to their peers, parents and the wider school community.
