Co-curricular ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

At Runnymede Prep School, we celebrate each child’s individuality and curiosity, encouraging pupils to explore a wide range of opportunities that help them discover their passions, develop confidence, and enjoy learning alongside others. Our co-curricular programme is broad and varied, designed to nurture creativity, intellectual curiosity, leadership, and a love of discovery in all its forms. Pupils are invited to engage in activities across the arts, sports, STEM, and community life, building skills that will serve them well both inside and beyond the classroom.

In the Creative Arts, pupils can join Musical Ensembles, the Christmas Choir, and take part in lively Assembly Performances, bringing music and performance to life within the school community. Theatre trips, including productions such as Annie, provide inspiration and broaden cultural horizons, while workshops with visiting authors and speakers spark creativity and encourage new ways of thinking. These experiences help pupils develop confidence, self-expression, and a sense of pride in their achievements.

STEM and academic clubs offer hands-on learning in Maths and Science, nurturing curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a love of exploration. Older pupils have the chance to share their knowledge with younger learners in Reception Forest School, developing leadership, empathy, and communication skills while introducing their peers to the wonders of woodland life. This sense of responsibility and mentorship lies at the heart of our approach, helping pupils grow as thoughtful individuals and as members of a caring community.

Our student leadership programme provides meaningful opportunities to serve the school. Pupils can become members of the Student Council, House Leaders, or even Head of School, learning the value of teamwork, responsibility, and contributing positively to the life of the school. These roles foster confidence, integrity, and a real understanding of how leadership is exercised with compassion and care.

Sporting life at Prep School is lively, inclusive, and full of energy. Pupils enjoy football, rugby, basketball, athletics, and cross-country on our purpose-built astroturf, while extracurricular sports extend to clubs such as skiing, surfing, and global competitions through Runnymede Clubs. Whether participating socially or competing at a higher level, pupils develop resilience, teamwork, and enjoyment, learning to set goals and celebrate effort as much as achievement.

Trips and Visits

Trips and Visits bring learning vividly to life. Pupils explore local and residential destinations, from science museums and adventure parks to team-building challenges and zip-lining experiences. History comes alive through excursions such as the Cleopatra visiting show, while year-group outings encourage collaboration, resilience, and shared discovery. Residential trips build progressively through the years, culminating in the Year 8 week-long surf trip to Santander, combining challenge, independence, and adventure. Termly rewards, including ice-skating, bowling, and other celebrations, ensure that pupils’ efforts and successes are recognised and enjoyed.

Through this rich and varied programme of co-curricular activities and trips, Runnymede Prep pupils are inspired to explore, create, lead, and thrive. Every opportunity is designed to spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and build the confidence and resilience that will stay with them long after they leave the school gates
