We are pleased to attach links to the speeches given by Headmaster Frank Powell and Dr Cayetana Alvarez de Toledo at the Senior School Prize Giving on Saturday, 8th June.
The Headmaster reminded us that it was our Founder’s Centenary on 5th June and gave us some insights into his early life.
Dr Alvarez de Toledo, dwelt on the themes of Truth, Merit and Courage in a “post-truth swamp”.
It was interesting to see that both speakers, in unsynchronised speeches, reflected on their fathers’ role in the Second World War. One would have to ask them if these thoughts were brought on by the Normandy Landing 80th Anniversary celebrations two days previously or the European elections that were to be held the following day.
