Overview
Runnymede College is a selective entry school. The admissions process is designed to ensure pupils joining the school will be able to cope with the British curriculum and enjoy their learning experience at Runnymede. Requirements
At Runnymede, we offer a warm and welcoming environment for students at every stage of their educational journey, from Pre-Nursery through to Sixth Form. Below, you’ll find detailed information about our entry requirements by year group.
Pre-Nursery, Nursery & Reception (Pre-Prep)
We are delighted to accept children from the age of two. To join our Pre-Nursery class, children must turn two before the 31st of August in the year of entry.
As children progress to Reception, we expect them to have a basic understanding of English, which helps ensure a smooth integration into the classroom environment.
Years 1 to 3 (Pre-Prep)
From Year 1 onwards, all children are required to complete a short entry assessment in both Mathematics and English. This helps us understand each child’s current level and ensures we can support them appropriately from the very start.
We ask parents to submit a recent school report from their child’s current school, which provides valuable insight into their academic progress and personal development.

Years 4 to 8 (Prep School)
All applicants to our Prep School are required to sit assessments in Mathematics and English.
For entry into Year 8, an additional CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test) is also part of the admissions process.
We ask parents to submit a recent school report from their child’s current school, which provides valuable insight into their academic progress and personal development.

Years 9 to 11 (Senior School)
Please note that we do not accept new students into Year 11, as the full two-year IGCSE programme must be completed at Runnymede.
For students applying to Years 9 and 10, the admissions process includes a CAT4 assessment along with tests in Mathematics and English.
We also request a recent school report to better understand the applicant’s academic background and suitability for the school.

Year 12 and 13 (VI Form)
Admission to Year 12 is highly selective. Students must have achieved a minimum of eight GCSEs at grade A or higher.
All applicants are required to sit entrance assessments in Mathematics and English and complete a CAT4 test. In addition, students will be invited to a personal interview with the Headmaster.
As part of the process, applicants must submit their most recent school report, as well as mock IGCSE results once they are available.
For students coming from schools that do not follow the IGCSE curriculum, further assessments may be required.
Offers for Year 12 are conditional and will only be confirmed upon receipt of final GCSE results meeting our entry criteria.
Please note that we do not accept new students into Year 13, as both years of the A Level programme must be completed at Runnymede.
