It has been a wonderful end to the term, with the entire school joining together in a spirit of togetherness and festive fun.
The Music and Drama departments have delivered Christmas-themed performances for a variety of audiences: not just parents and classmates, but also the residents at the local old people’s home on Calle Salvia, who were truly appreciative of the Choir’s lovely singing. Years 3 to 9 (along with lots of parents) also attended a Christmas Concert & Sing-a-Long on the last day of term, filling the Julia Powell Auditorium with the joyous sound of Christmas classics like ‘We Three Kings’ and ‘Feliz Navidad’.
In addition, the Senior School celebrated the term’s co-curricular and academic achievements in a whole-school assembly on Tuesday, and the Junior School have participated in lots of fantastic Yuletide activities.
Perhaps the most memorable part of our end of term celebrations came on Wednesday, when we held an inaugural Christmas Fair. The VI Form Community Committee sold festive wreathes and decorations which the Junior School had helped them to make. Then most of the school was able to take part in ice-skating, and younger pupils met Father Christmas before enjoying some deliciously sugary treats. It is Christmas, after all!
We would like to thank parents for their generosity in contributing to the school’s charitable collection for Caritas, which will make Christmas a little easier for many struggling families across Madrid.
We would also like to wish everyone in the Runnymede family a very happy, relaxing Christmas! We look forward to seeing you all in 2023!
