During Maths and Computer Science lessons in November, all Runnymede students in Years 3 to 9, plus some classes in Years 10, 12 and 13, competed in the Bebras Computing Challenge. The Bebras Challenge is international, with around 3 million students from over 50 countries taking part. It is designed to get children excited about Computing, and Runnymede certainly got into the spirit! It was great to see students from both Junior School and Senior School taking part, and we are very proud of all of them. In particular, we had 92 students achieve a certificate for a score in the top quartile for their competition level. Even more impressively, 47 of our students gained a Gold certificate, which puts them in the top 10% of all scores in the UK! Those students, plus any who have qualified in previous years, will be going forward to compete in the Oxford University Computing Challenge, which takes place in January.
