Examination Results
At Runnymede, we encourage our Sixth Formers to work consistently and diligently throughout their two years of study, allowing them to build the knowledge and skills required to excel in any assessment they may face. This dedicated approach positions them strongly for their final exams. We are proud of the exceptional results our students achieve and thrilled with the fantastic range of leading universities they go on to attend.
University Applications
We actively encourage students to make the right choice regarding the courses and university destinations they apply to. They are encouraged to undertake super-curricular activities, in particular reading, to help them with their applications. How proactive they are is key to their success in the application process. Our dedicated Higher Education and Exams Officer provides official transcripts for all university systems worldwide, and offers guidance in conjunction with a highly experienced admissions team.
University Talks
We provide students with key information on the university application process, with particular focus on the varying requirements of different countries. Our students apply to universities in the UK, USA, Spain, Europe, and beyond, and we ensure they are well informed about each system. Regular visits from university representatives and in-house university fairs allow students to engage directly with institutions such as Bath, Imperial, LSE, St Andrews, UCL, Warwick, and many more.
UK Universities
Applications to British universities are made through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service), with deadlines ranging from September 1st to January 15th in the academic year before enrolment. Specific deadlines apply for Oxbridge and medical schools, set for October 15th. Students are advised to finalise their university choices between the last term of Year 12 and the first half of Year 13. UCAS applications require a personal statement from the student, a reference from a teacher, and predicted grades.
US Universities
Admission to US universities is based on a combination of academic performance, school references, and admissions tests. The most competitive institutions maintain rigorous academic standards similar to those in the UK. Many US universities require standardised tests such as the SATs.
Spanish Universities
For admission to Spanish universities, students typically need 3 or 4 A Levels, with their grades converted to a score out of 10. The school assists with the convalidation and homologation processes to convert British qualifications into the Spanish system, including obtaining the Credencial de Acceso. In some cases, entrance exams (Pruebas de Competencia Específicas) may be required for certain universities, with much of the exam content covered within A Level subjects.
Other Universities
Runnymede College also supports students applying to universities elsewhere, providing guidance on the admissions processes in countries such as the Netherlands, Ireland, France, Switzerland, and more. We regularly host talks and visits from university representatives, ensuring students are well-prepared for applications to institutions around the world.
